Alexa ICC Profile 3D LUT integration with ProRes

Taken from Steve Shaw and the Light Illusion web site March 2011 :

Alexicc FCP/Quicktome is an ICC based solution that enables FCP and Quicktime Pro7 running on a Mac, to work with Alexa ProRes444 Log-C rushes with LUT burnt in. Ideal for dailies and off-line workflows.

The main requirement for LUT operation with FCP and Quicktime Pro7 is the ability to convert true 3D LUTs into ICC profiles that are compatible with FCP and Quicktime.

To perform this conversion requires the use of SpaceMan ICC, or Light Illusion's LUT Conversion service.

To Use
To use Alexicc FCP you will need:

An Intel Mac with Quicktime Pro 7

To apply the ICC profile (LUT) within FCP to the sequence select Effects>Video Filters>Quicktime>Colorsync which will be implemented very soon.

CDL will also be implemeted soon.

To 'burn' the ICC profile into clips use the export window (or from within Quicktime Pro7) and use Export>Video>filter>Adjustments>Colorsync.

The Alexicc ICC profile should be set as 'Source', and the 'Target' set at Rec709, or sRGB, as required.
